General Rules for JAFAX Attendees
- Parents, you are responsible for your kids! JAFAX is not a daycare.
- Be courteous! Don't do anything to someone else that you wouldn't want done to you.
- No solicitiation signs. This includes any signs offering physical contact or anything asking for money. This does not include signs that are part of a costume.
JAFAX Weapons Policy:
Please note that some costume props and merchandise you might be permitted at a convention center are not allowed on university property while attending JAFAX. All participants and guests attending JAFAX must abide by the below policy and this policy will be enforced by JAFAX staff and other university official's. Unapproved items may be confiscated. The following rules apply to both attendees' costume props and vendors' wares at all times:
Prop guns:
- BB, cork, or airsoft guns, or any weapon that operates based on gas, spring or air are NOT allowed under any circumstances (even unloaded).
- Plastic toy guns that shoot foam projectiles (such as Nerf guns) are allowed, but shooting them in the crowd will not be tolerated.
- All prop guns must have orange-painted tips and/or otherwise be clearly marked and identified as fake. There must not be any confusion that the prop might be considered real by others.
Other props:
- Anything sharp (either edged or pointy) is NOT allowed. This includes Kunai, for you Naruto fans; such props must be made of foam or some similar soft material.
- Metal blades are not allowed, even if they are not sharpened; prop swords must be wooden, foam, etc.
- Wooden practice swords such as bokken or shinai are allowed. Props such as staffs or wands are allowed.
Other weapons:
- Of course, firearms and explosives of any kind (including fireworks) are NOT allowed.
