Starting in 2025, a special award will be presented to the Cosplay Craftsmanship Contest competitor whose cosplay best embodies JAFAX's annual theme. Cosplayers will be given the option to sign up for the Theme Division when they register for the Cosplay Craftsmanship Contest, either online or, should any spaces remain when online registration ends, at Cosplay Ops. Judging will be based on how the cosplay reflects the annual theme and how the cosplayer incorporates the theme into their stage presence. The JAFAX 2025 theme is Villains and Anti-Heroes.
